Sterling County is in the transitional area between The Eastern Shelf and the Midland Basin. Although sparsely drilled, the County has all or parts of several large fields. Stratigraphic traps form the majority of hydrocarbons found in the County, but the Ellenburger Structure has also been productive in several locations. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
