HiRes is a process performed on seismic data traces that allows maximum resolution to be obtained without enhancing noises and ringing effects seen from conventional techniques such as spectral whitening and deconvolution. This process can be applied post migration and allows interpreters to see subtle stratigraphic features as well as subtle faulting and very fine depositional sequences. The data is converted to zero phase before this process is applied to ensure that the end result will yield the most accurate stratigraphic information that is possible. This technique allows the interpreter to see far greater detail without enhancing destructive noises embedded in the seismic data.
